This checklist covers five steps I run on every new Breville unit that comes through our door. My checklist for unboxing:

Three things to test for volume:

I implemented a verification protocol in 2022 where every new unit gets a photo of the serial number, the spec sheet, and a video of the first test cycle. Why? Because when a unit fails 6 months in, the warranty claim requires proof of installation and use conditions. If you don't have documentation, you're out of luck (and out of warranty).
For the Panasonic NN-SN98JS microwave ovens we bought, the manufacturer asked for a video of the unit running a full cycle to confirm the issue wasn't operator error. What to Watch Out For
False economy on batteries. We got a battery-powered hand mixer from a competitor. The batteries died after two uses. Check the battery compartment for corrosion or damage on arrival. For heavy use, a corded model is way more reliable. (This is less of a Breville issue, but I've seen it across the industry.)
Where can I find a carpet cleaner? That's a different category entirely. I'm not a cleaning equipment expert, so I can't speak to that. From a procurement standpoint, I'd look for a rental option if you're under time pressure—buying what you don't need is a luxury you shouldn't afford when you need a machine now.
Bottom line: Paying for spec certainty is not buying the cheapest. It's buying the unit you know will work on day one, under load, without a callback. That certainty is worth the extra $200 every time.
